Why we exist

Debt review was meant to protect you. Too often it becomes a trap, blocking ordinary South Africans from a home loan, a car, or a credit card long after the reason for it has passed.

There is a legal way out. We focus strictly on the lawful mechanisms of debt review removal, doing the heavy lifting so the flag comes off your record and stays off, without dodgy grey-area shortcuts that leave you exposed later.

What we do

Three ways we get your record clean.

Whether you have paid off your debts, been left stranded by an absent counsellor, or simply need proof your profile is clear, there is a defined legal process for it. Here is where we start.

01

Debt Review Removal & Bureau Clearance

We legally remove debt review flags from your profile across all four major credit bureaus (TransUnion, Experian, Compuscan and XDS). We handle everything from securing your Form 17.2 clearance certificate to submitting directly to the National Credit Regulator (NCR).

02

Debt Counsellor Transfer & Clearance Resolution

If your previous debt counsellor closed down, became unresponsive, or left you stuck in limbo, we legally take over your file and fast-track your clearance directly through court orders or NCR intervention.

03

Credit Bureau Record Audit & Verification

A post-clearance audit where we continuously verify that all four major credit bureaus have updated your profile, ensuring your name reads as 100% clean so you can apply for home loans, vehicle finance and credit cards with confidence.

The weight is off your shoulders

A clean record is not a favour. It is your right once the debt is settled.

We restore the credit freedom you have already earned, transparently and strictly within the law.

How it works

A calm, four-step path out.

No jargon and no pressure. You will always know which step you are on, what it costs, and what happens next.

01

Free assessment

Send a two-minute enquiry. We review your credit profile across all four bureaus and confirm whether you qualify. This costs you nothing.

02

Qualify and fixed quote

We confirm your route, either a Form 17.2 clearance or a court order, and give you a transparent written fee before any work begins.

03

We clear the flag

We secure your Form 17.2 clearance certificate and file directly with the NCR, or obtain a court order, overriding unresponsive or absent counsellors.

04

Bureau audit

We verify that TransUnion, Experian, Compuscan and XDS have all updated your record, and keep checking until your profile reads 100% clean.

Two legal routes

Clearance or court order? We match the route to your situation.

Customers often confuse a clearance certificate with a court rescission. They are different processes with different timelines. We tell you which one applies before we begin.

Route A · Form 17.2 Clearance

You have paid off your restructured debts.

Typical timeline: 3 to 6 weeks

For clients who have settled all restructured debts, or who only have an up-to-date home loan remaining. We secure the Form 17.2 clearance certificate and submit it to the bureaus.

Route B · Court Order / Rescission

A court order needs to be set aside.

Typical timeline: 3 to 6 months

For clients where a formal court order was granted but circumstances changed, or the process was improperly handled. We file to have the order rescinded and the record cleared.

Compliance you can check

We do not deal in grey-area shortcuts. Everything happens under Section 71 of the National Credit Act, with a written fee agreement before any work begins.

  • NCA Section 126A. No full fees upfront. You get a transparent written fee structure before we start.
  • POPIA. Your personal and financial information is processed lawfully and stored securely.
  • Section 71 route only. Legal removal mechanisms, never dodgy shortcuts that expose you later.
  • All four bureaus. We track TransUnion, Experian, Compuscan and XDS until your profile is clean.

Common questions

Answers, in plain language.

A few of the questions we hear most. The full list, from eligibility to life after removal, lives on our FAQ page.

Can debt review legally be removed from my credit record in South Africa?

Yes. Under Section 71 of the National Credit Act (NCA), you have the legal right to exit debt review once you have fulfilled your obligations under your restructuring plan, settled your debt, or if your financial circumstances have improved. Fix Debt Review SA handles the full legal and administrative process to clear the flag from your profile.

How do I know if I qualify for debt review removal?

You typically qualify if you have paid off all your restructured debts (excluding a home loan), if your financial situation has improved and you can now afford direct payments to your creditors, if you were placed under debt review without proper consent or assessment, or if your previous debt counsellor has stopped responding or closed their practice. Our free assessment confirms which of these applies to you.

What if my debt counsellor has disappeared or closed down?

This is a very common issue in South Africa. If your debt counsellor is unresponsive, untraceable, or no longer registered with the National Credit Regulator (NCR), Fix Debt Review SA can legally take over your file, apply directly to the NCR, or obtain a court order to issue your clearance certificate.

How long does the debt review removal process take?

Most standard cases are resolved within 4 to 8 weeks. This timeframe includes obtaining your Form 17.2 Clearance Certificate, submitting official removal documents to the NCR, and waiting for all four major credit bureaus (TransUnion, Experian, Compuscan and XDS) to update their databases.
